15 Days Uganda and Kenya Safari – Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Murchison Falls & Masai Mara

Your 15 Days Uganda and Kenya Safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.

After a briefing with your safari guide, drive northwards toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary provides an opportunity to see Uganda's southern white rhinos in a protected natural environment.

Enjoy a guided rhino tracking experience before continuing toward Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest national park.

After entering the park, continue toward your lodge while enjoying views of the surrounding savannah landscape. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short evening game-viewing drive.

Wake up early for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park.

The morning is one of the best periods for wildlife viewing as animals are often active before the heat of the day. Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, antelopes and, with luck, lions and leopards.

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls. The riverbanks provide excellent opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous water birds.

Return to your lodge in the evening.

After breakfast, visit the Top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile is forced through a narrow gorge before plunging downstream.

Enjoy the dramatic views and take photographs before beginning the journey toward Kibale National Park.

This is a long travel day as you cross western Uganda. Enjoy the changing landscapes, local villages and countryside along the way.

Arrive in the Kibale area in the evening and check into your lodge.

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale National Park.

Kibale is renowned for its primate diversity, and the forest provides opportunities to encounter chimpanzees as well as other primates.

After the trek, return for lunch and later visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

The Bigodi experience combines nature, birdwatching and community tourism. Your local guide can introduce you to the area's vegetation, birds, primates and traditional community activities.

Return to your lodge for dinner.

Overnight: Kibale

After breakfast, depart Kibale and travel south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The journey takes you through beautiful countryside with views of crater lakes, farms and the Rwenzori Mountains when weather conditions are favorable.
After lunch, enter Queen Elizabeth National Park for an afternoon or evening game drive.
Look out for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, Uganda kob and other wildlife. The park is known for its diverse landscapes and wildlife. UWA describes Queen Elizabeth as one of Uganda's major biodiversity destinations, with extensive mammal and bird diversity.

Wake up early for a morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Explore the savannah plains in search of wildlife and enjoy the changing scenery around the park.

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy the famous Kazinga Channel boat cruise.

The cruise provides opportunities to see large concentrations of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes along the water's edge, together with numerous bird species.

Return to your lodge after the cruise.

Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Depending on your route and gorilla trekking sector, the journey may pass through the Ishasha area. UWA notes that the route between Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi can pass through Ishasha, where travelers may have an opportunity to search for the famous tree-climbing lions.

Continue toward the Bwindi region through rolling hills, forests and local communities.

Arrive at your lodge and prepare for the following day's gorilla trekking experience.

oday is one of the major highlights of your Uganda gorilla safari.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing before entering Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking.

The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family you are tracking. The forest terrain can be steep and muddy, so comfortable hiking shoes, long trousers and waterproof clothing are recommended.

Once you locate the gorilla family, you will have a memorable opportunity to observe these endangered mountain gorillas in their natural forest environment.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

If time and energy allow, an optional community or Batwa cultural experience can be arranged.

After breakfast, begin the journey toward the Uganda-Kenya border.

Enjoy the scenic landscapes of southwestern Uganda before proceeding toward the border crossing.

After completing the necessary border formalities, continue into Kenya toward Kisumu.

This is primarily a transfer day because of the considerable distance involved in traveling from Bwindi to western Kenya.

Arrive in Kisumu later in the day and check into your hotel.

After breakfast, depart Kisumu and travel toward the spectacular Masai Mara National Reserve.

The journey takes you through the Kenyan countryside toward one of Africa's best-known wildlife destinations.

The Masai Mara provides opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and, with luck, leopards and cheetahs.

Return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner.

Today is dedicated to a full-day Masai Mara wildlife safari.

After an early breakfast, depart with your packed lunch for a full-day game drive.
