Your 4 Days Gorilla Trekking and Lake Bunyonyi Safari begins with pickup from your hotel in Entebbe or from Entebbe International Airport.

Meet your professional safari guide and start the journey toward southwestern Uganda.

The drive takes you through Uganda's countryside, passing towns, villages, farms and beautiful landscapes.

Equator Experience

Make a stop at the Equator crossing.

This is an excellent opportunity to take photographs and learn about the geographical significance of the Equator.

You can also visit local craft shops and purchase souvenirs if you wish.

Continue toward western Uganda with a lunch stop along the way.As you approach Kabale, the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous, with green hills, cultivated terraces and winding roads.

Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi

Continue to Lake Bunyonyi, where you will check into your accommodation.

Lake Bunyonyi is surrounded by steep green hills and small islands, creating one of the most scenic landscapes in southwestern Uganda.

Spend the evening relaxing at your lodge while enjoying views over the lake.

Wake up to beautiful views of Lake Bunyonyi and enjoy breakfast at your lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy a Lake Bunyonyi boat or traditional canoe experience.

Cruise across the calm waters while enjoying the scenery of the surrounding hills and islands.

The activity provides excellent opportunities for photography and bird watching.

You can also learn about the local communities living around the lake and the importance of the lake to the surrounding population.

After the boat experience, return to your lodge for lunch.

Transfer to Bwindi

After lunch, depart Lake Bunyonyi for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The journey takes you through the spectacular hills of southwestern Uganda.Depending on the gorilla trekking sector selected for your permit, your accommodation will be arranged in or near Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo.

These are the four main gorilla trekking sectors of Bwindi.

Arrive at your lodge and check in.

Your guide will brief you about the following day's gorilla trekking experience.

You will have time to prepare your hiking equipment, charge your camera and relax.

Wake up early and have breakfast before driving or walking to the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point.

Gorilla Trekking Briefing

At the park headquarters, you will register and attend a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and safety procedures.

UWA requires visitors to have their permits validated and to undergo orientation and briefing before entering the forest. Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking is conducted with UWA guides and trackers.

After the briefing, you begin your trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Gorilla Trekking Experience

Walk through the dense rainforest with your ranger and trackers while searching for your assigned gorilla family.

The trek can involve steep and sometimes muddy terrain. The duration varies depending on where the gorillas are located and how far they have moved.

According to UWA, gorilla treks may take approximately 2–7 hours, and once you find the habituated family, you have one hour to observe them.During your trek, you may also encounter:

• Forest birds
• Monkeys
• Butterflies
• Bushbucks
• Forest elephants, although rarely seen
• Other forest species

Meeting the Mountain Gorillas

When the trackers locate your assigned gorilla family, you will have the opportunity to observe these extraordinary animals in their natural environment.

Watch as they feed, climb, rest, groom and interact with one another.

Your ranger will explain the behavior and social structure of the gorilla family while ensuring that visitors follow the required conservation guidelines.

This is a powerful wildlife experience and one of the most memorable activities on a Uganda gorilla safari.

After the trek, return to the park headquarters and receive your trekking certificate where applicable.

Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Optional Afternoon Activity

If you still have energy after trekking, you may arrange an optional community or cultural experience, nature walk or simply relax at your lodge.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your lodge.

Begin your journey back to Entebbe.

The return drive takes you through the beautiful countryside of southwestern and central Uganda.

Depending on your flight or onward travel schedule, you may have a lunch stop along the way.

You may also make another brief stop at the Equator if time permits.

Continue toward Entebbe.

Arrive in Entebbe in the evening and transfer to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
